What is a Planetary Ball Mill?
The planetary ball mill is a necessary device used for high-tech materials’ mixing, fine grinding, sample preparation, new product development and small batch production. Featuring small volume, high efficiency and low noise, it is an ideal equipment for R&D institution, colleges and universities, enterprises and laboratories to obtain samples.
How does a Planetary Ball Mill Work?
In a planetary ball mill, there are four ball mill tanks installed on one turntable. When the turntable rotates, the ball mill tanks revolve around the main axis and at the same time reversely move around their own axes in planetary rotation.
The grinding balls and samples inside the tanks impact, shear and rub with each other in high speed movement to achieve the purposes of crushing, grinding, mixing and dispersing materials.
Various kinds of solid particles, suspensions and pastes can be ground by the mill with dry or wet method. The minimum granularity of ground product can be as small as 0.1μm.
What is Ball Mill Used for?
A planetary ball mill is widely used in geology, minerals, metallurgy, electronics, building materials, ceramics, chemical industry, light industry, medicine, beauty, environmental protection and other departments.
Examples: production of electronic ceramics, structural ceramics, magnetic materials, lithium cobalt, lithium manganese, catalyst, phosphor, long afterglow powder, rare earth polishing powder, electronic glass powder, fuel cell, ceramic capacitor, zinc oxide varistor, piezoelectric ceramics, nano materials, wafer ceramic capacitor, MLCC, thermistor (PTC and NTC), ZnO varistor, lighting arrester valve slice, strontium titanate ring varistor, ceramic filter, dielectric ceramics, piezoelectric transducers, piezoelectric transformer, chip resistors, thick film circuit, focal potentiometer, alumina ceramic, zirconia ceramic, phosphor, zinc powder oxide, cobalt oxide powder, Ni – zinc ferrite, Mn – zinc ferrite and other products.
Will the Effect be Better with a Higher Rotating Speed?
The higher rotating speed doesn’t necessarily mean better grinding effect. Too high speed will accelerate the wear of mechanical parts of the equipment and shorten the service life of the equipment. Thus it’s suggested to reduce the rotating speed as far as possible based on the actual needs of materials.
